My Mermaids at the Venice Art Crawl

This past Thursday night, June 19, I had the opportunity to participate in the Venice Art Crawl in Venice, California, as both a vendor and artist.  The Venice Art Crawl is sponsored by the Venice Chamber of Commerce, and encourages the community to come together and host individual shows in various locations throughout Venice on a particular chosen evening.   I found out about the Art Crawl event at the Electric Lodge through my lovely artist friend Meshe Escobedo, who loves mermaids like I do, and paints beautiful ones.  The event was hosted by "Lady", a Venice group that puts on Events by women artists, and the theme of this particular show was "La Sirena: Maiden of the Sea".
I was lucky enough to be accepted to show both of my original mermaid paintings, as well as my mermaid jewelry and a few other mer-pieces.  I didn't really know what to expect, but when I dropped off my paintings I instantly liked the venue, and had the feeling it would be a good show.

The event ran from 6pm to 10pm with a mermaid costume contest at 8pm, as well as a live band performance at 9pm.  My vendor table was on the second floor landing, and I liked my little corner of the world.
My jewelry and various and sundry Mermaid items.
From my perch, I had a nice view of the entrance and a view of the large, lovely water painting by artist Francesca Quintano.  You may know I have an obsession with water themes, and a particular love for swimming pool art, having done a whole series myself on that subject.  Being next to this particular painting made me feel right at home.

First time I had a real live Mermaid at my table.
There was a steady stream of interesting, art loving people the entire evening, and it was a very fun filled and successful night.

I encourage artists to consider participating in the next Venice Art Crawl, and art lovers out there to check it out!  I believe the next one will be September 18.

We finished off the evening with an amazing slice of pizza at Abbot's Pizza Company on Abbot Kinney Blvd., just a one block walk from the Electric Lodge.  They are open until midnight, and the pizza was reasonably priced and to die for!  Don't miss it if you are in the area.

Buenas Noches,
xoxo Linda
